Kat believes that the power of collective imagination and coordinated action can will into existence equitable and compassionate societies in which all individuals are treated with dignity. With a diverse background in sustainable food systems, economic justice, philanthropy, and participatory processes, Kat’s research focuses on systems thinking, scaling impact, and self-determined capacity-building for frontline communities. Having also worked for start-ups, social enterprises, and impact investors, Kat’s perspective of social impact is dynamic and further informed by her lived experience as a daughter of Hmong immigrants and refugees. Kat is an Emerson National Hunger Fellowship alum and UC Davis graduate with a Bachelor degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems.
